VERA E. MEAD OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAMP

THIS YEAR'S CAMPERS

HOW MANY OF THESE FACES ARE STILL PART
OF OUR CAMP PROGRAM?
The first 6th grade camp took place in l966 at Cedar Lake Camp in Chelsea, Michigan. From there the camp moved to Tall Timbers in Climax, next to Camp Eberhart in Three Rivers, and now at Camp Friedenswald, Vandalia, Michigan. Throughout the many years of camp, Vera E Mead played an important part in the camp program. Vera skillfully performed many duties such as cook, bus driver, instructor, counselor, entertainer on skit night, janitor, mediator, naturalist, go for, and the official alarm clock for the staff. As the 36th class of 6th graders prepares for their week at camp this fall, the spirit of Vera will accompany them on their adventure. Because of all these duties that she performed so well, camp has been renamed the "Vera E. Mead Outdoor Education Camp" in her honor. Pictured is Vera with one of the many camp staffs she served on.
