We focus on learning the letters and the sounds of all the letters.
We work on blending sounds together to form basic words.
We practice writing on a daily basis.
We do story crafting to promote higher order thinking skills.
The children work on predicting skills.
We work on exploratory drawing and writing to strengthen comprehension.
We do lots of language & literacy related activities.
We read stories everyday!
Math
We learn to count to 100 by ones, fives and tens.
We learn to count by two’s up to 20.
We learn to recognize numbers up through 100.
We learn to write numbers 0-30.
We learn a variety of geometric shapes.
We learn patterning, sequencing and sorting skills.
We learn days of the week, months of the year, seasons and weather.
We begin basic addition and subtraction skills.
We begin basic money and time skills.
We work on developing critical thinking and problem solving skills every day.
We count and sort sets of objects.
Homework
Homework is given about 2 times a week.
This is usually practice of writing letters, numbers, his/her name, simple sentences, making projects and other related educational activities...
Each marking period, the children who complete and pass 80% of their homework on time, may qualify for a reward celebration at the end of the marking period.
We also send home stories to be read with the child by the parents/guardians on a regular basis.
